UK weather: Snow forecast as Britain set for coldest April weekend in years

Britons have been warned over freezing temperatures going into the weekend after bursts of snow, cold air and torrential downpour left parts of the UK colder than is expected at the start of April.

Forecasters said “Polar air” as cold as -14C could sweep across Britain in the coming days, due to low pressure “heading off towards Scandinavia” and cold air coming back.
