UK weather: BBC weather shows parts of Britain will be hotter than Madrid this weekend

Cloudy weather is on its way to Bristol, according to the Met Office, but it is going to stay largely dry.

The forecasting service states that it will be cloudy today (April 22), with temperatures staying between 16C and 8C. It will be a similar picture tomorrow (April 23), when it will be cloudy and dry all day but there is a chance of some light rain at 3pm.

However, Bristol will see sunny intervals changing to cloudy in the afternoon on Sunday (April 24). It will be a different picture in other parts of the country though, where temperatures are being forecast to soar again this weekend - and some parts are expected to be warmer than Madrid.

Temperatures still won't reach the dizzy heights of last weekend's 20C, but London can expect highs of 17C on Saturday and Sunday - making the capital warmer than the Spanish capital Madrid on Saturday, which according to the BBC will have a high of 16C.

But before the glorious warm weather returns showers will strike much of the nation on Friday amid warnings of snow fall and sub zero temperatures to come, reports the Mirror.

While there are rain showers predicted for the weekend, the temperature in London will be relatively high and according to the BBC, London will be warmer than Madrid on Saturday, reports My London.

Looking at next week, the weather in Bristol is again looking mild, largely cloudy and staying dry. Temperatures are expected to stay between 15C and 5C until next Thursday (April 28).

Here is the Met Office forecast for the next few days:

Today

A dry start with some low cloud over the moors, turning cloudier for most throughout the morning with some light showers possible in the afternoon. Feeling a little cooler than recently with a fresh easterly breeze. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight

Risk of showers in the far west into the evening, otherwise dry, breezy and cloudy overnight. The blanket of cloud will prevent a frost. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday

A cloudy start for most, brightening up throughout the day with the risk of an isolated shower. Breezy, especially over high ground. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday

Remaining settled but turning cooler throughout the weekend and into next week, winds easing by Monday. Dry and fairly cloudy, though there is a risk of showers on Monday.
