UK's youngest gran at 30 slams trolls who judge daughter for having baby aged 14

A woman believed to have become Britain's youngest nan aged just 30 has hit back at trolls who have criticised her and her then 14-year-old daughter.

Kelly Healey spoke about becoming a young nan, after her teenage daughter Skye Salter gave birth at 14 to her son Bailey.

And Kelly thinks her own mum could well be the country's youngest great nan as she was only 48 at the time the boy was born three years ago.

But the family has been subjected to judgement and comments from trolls who slammed Kelly for not teaching daughter Skye about contraception.

Mum-of-five Kelly told the Mirror she had spoken to her Skye about the birds and the bees but the youngster wasn't sexually active at the time.

Skye herself had no idea she was pregnant until she was more than eight months gone.

She only found out she was expecting while at the sexual health clinic to discuss contraception.

There she was given a pregnancy test which revealed the shocking news.

The young mum-to-be said she was stunned by the news and had been taking part in PE lessons at school having no idea she was weeks away from becoming a parent.

Both mum Kelly and daughter Skye said they did not care what people online had said about their lives after they spoke out.

Skye, who turns 18 next month, said: "I knew it would come, but people have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

"I don't think about them. They didn't know I existed a few days ago and I'm not going to worry about what they are saying, they don't know me.

"I'm proud of myself and the mum I am. They aren't the one raising my child, I am."

Son Bailey is now three (David Dyson)

Skye said bringing up her young son for the past three years has been hard, but worth it.

"It has been a struggle, but I just had to be the best version of myself for Bailey," she added.

Mum Kelly from Feltham, London said that her daughter is an amazing mum and she is proud of what she has achieved.

She said: "Skye is very mature for her age and she has done amazingly well.

"She carried on going to school while I looked after Bailey.

"She got her GCSEs and hair and beauty qualifications, she's now doing really well on Tik Tok and has thousands of followers.

"She wants to start her driving lessons and once Bailey goes to school in September she wants to look at a job as a carer for disabled children."
