UK inflation rate drops more than forecasted to lowest level in a year

THE rate of inflation in the UK has fallen to its lowest level in more than a year, new figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal.

In the latest figures for April 2026, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rate of inflation, the most widely used measure in the UK, fell to 2.8%, down from 3.3% in March.
