UGA basketball picks up crucial last-second home win over LSU

Georgia basketball (14-5) earned a critical 68-66 home win over the LSU Tigers (11-8). Georgia center Russel Tchewa scored a clutch and-one basket to give the Bulldogs a two-point lead in the final seconds of the game. The Bulldogs played in front of rapper Waka Flocka.

Georgia has suffered just one loss (11-1) at Stegeman Coliseum this season and remains in the mix to earn a NCAA Tournament berth. The Bulldogs got a team-high 15 points from guard Silas Demary Jr. Additionally, Tchewa added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Georgia shot under 30% from three-point territory, but played excellent defense. The Bulldogs held LSU to under 40% shooting and forced 16 LSU turnovers. However, Georgia cough up the basketball 18 times and finished the night with only six assists. It is rare to win with an assist to turnover ratio like that.

Next up for Georgia is a road trip to face the Florida Gators on Saturday, Jan. 27 at noon E.T. Georgia needs to continue adding to its resume in order to solidify its NCAA Tournament hopes.
