SALT LAKE CITY – Miranda Maverick didn’t want to see the judges again at UFC 291, so she made sure to put Priscila Cachoeira away before the final round ended.
Maverick (12-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) scored a nasty third-round armbar of Cachoeira (12-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) on Saturday in their women’s flyweight bout at Delta Center, capping off a dominant effort in a fight she took on relatively short notice.
After using her grappling to take the first two rounds, Maverick did more of the same in the third before transitioning into an armbar. Cachoeira tried to fight it off, but was forced to tap at the 2:11 mark of Round 3.

After losing a decision to Jasmine Jasudavicius at UFC 289 this past month, Maverick got back in the win column in impressive fashion, and accomplished her goal.
“Nothing surprised me,” Maverick said in her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “I felt like I had to go in there and play cautious. … I knew I had to play it safe and get this win and go home.”
