SALT LAKE CITY – A new “BMF” champion will be crowned in a matter of hours after Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje got a final look at each other before UFC 291 at ceremonial weigh-ins.
After Poirier (29-7 MMA, 21-6 UFC) scored a fourth-round TKO of Gaethje (24-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in the 2018 Fight of the Year in their initial meeting, the pair of fan favorites will run it back on Saturday in a five-round lightweight bout at Delta Center. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ABC, ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.
Both men have been intense in the lead-up to the highly anticipated encounter, and things were no different on Friday when they engaged in one last pre-fight staredown in front of fans and media at ceremonial weigh-ins.
