At the event, which took place Oct. 22 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, Islam Makhachev (23-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) submitted Charles Oliveira (33-9 MMA, 21-9 UFC) to capture the vacant lightweight title.
In the co-headliner, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling (22-3 MMA, 14-3 UFC) dominated an injured T.J. Dillashaw (17-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) to notch his second title defense.
Finally, in the featured bout, Sean O'Malley (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) edged out former champion Petr Yan (16-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in a Fight of the Night effort.
