A buy-one-get-one-free burger or a 40% off promotion can make ordering dinner through Uber Eats seem like a bargain. But the price displayed beside a restaurant’s menu items is only part of what customers pay. Delivery fees, service fees, tips, and higher app menu prices can push the final total well beyond the cost of ordering directly from the restaurant.
That doesn’t mean Uber Eats deals are never worthwhile. The trick is knowing when a promotion genuinely lowers the cost and when picking up the order yourself would be cheaper. Comparing the same meal across the delivery app, the restaurant’s own ordering system, and its in-store menu can reveal which option actually saves money.
