UAE President calls PM Modi, discusses West Asia situation and deepens strategic ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday held a telephone conversation on regional developments in West Asia and steps to deepen bilateral ties, days after the conclusion of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

The UAE President conveyed birthday greetings to the Prime Minister during the call, according to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination in efforts to promote regional peace, security and stability in West Asia, the statement said.

The two leaders also discussed new measures to further deepen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including in the areas of energy, defence, technology, investment and health, the PMO said.

The UAE President congratulated the Prime Minister on India's successful BRICS Presidency. The Prime Minister, in turn, appreciated the participation of Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled in the BRICS Summit and the UAE's cooperation in achieving substantive outcomes under India's Presidency, according to the statement.

The call comes amid sustained India-UAE engagement on regional security matters, with both sides having previously coordinated closely on West Asia-related developments.
