Manipur have emerged runners-up in three of the last five editions of the U-17 Women’s National Championship. But on Sunday, they played like champions to script a goal-fest in their Group A match at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and scored one less than a dozen against Jharkhand to win 11-0.
Kimte Lagel (9’, 21’, 44’, 86’) added four more to her tally of goals in the championship to make it nine and became the third highest goal-scorer so far. Moibungkhongbam Sanjana Chanu (40’, 82’) and Thingbaijam Sanjita Devi (13’) added a brace each while Oinam Babita Devi (14’), Ipham Romina Begum (49’) Kkhumukcham Sanamija Chanu (90+2’) added a goal to the misery of the Jharkhand defence.
