Tyson Fury issues verdict on Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are just days away from their Texas fight and Tyson Fury has given his verdict on the bout.

Tyson has agreed to come out of retirement to take on the Youtuber-turned-boxer, having last entered the ring in 2020 for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. Before that, his last professional bout came in 2005.

For Paul, who has been climbing the boxing ranks in recent years, it is by a distance his most high-profile fight to date and one which is he favourite to win. He takes on Tyson with an 11-1 record, his only loss coming against Fury's half-brother Tommy last year.

Asked about the fight, Fury told Pro Boxing Fans: "I think it’s a fantastic event.

"Anyone who [doesn’t] think it’s a fantastic event is jealous. Mainly people who ain’t getting paid for it will be jealous… because it’s not them."

The fight was originally set for July before a medical issue for Tyson saw the bout delayed until November. The intervening four months have not dampened Fury's expectations.

Speaking back in March, Fury told The Stomping Ground: "I think it's fantastic for boxing. You've got a legend in Mike Tyson. You've got a YouTube boxer, he has come into the game and blew it up and he's got millions of followers and millions of views and millions of eyes.

“Good, bad, or indifferent. Some people love him, some people hate him. So, I think it's a really good spectacle for boxing.”
