Tyson Fury calls for two fights in one night if Anthony Joshua talks break down

Tyson Fury has called for a second fight on December 3 if he ultimately ends up fighting Mahmoud Charr instead of Anthony Joshua.

The world heavyweight champion appears not to be keen on a fight with Joshua this year, and has consistently put seemingly insurmountable obstacles in the way of his rival's team accepting the fight. Just this week he has set two deadlines; first Monday and now today, for contracts to be signed, despite them currently being in the lawyers' hands.

And he appears more eager to fight the former WBA 'regular' heavyweight champion Charr instead, accepting his frequent social media callouts and declaring that they will be squaring off. With Joshua talks now stalling, it appears that the German is top of the list of future opponents, although Fury now appears to be looking at adding a second one to the mix for December 3.

"Just been doing a little bit of brainstorming," Fury told fans in his latest social media update. "December 3 is coming, Mahmoud Charr is agreed, why don't I fight two people in one night? Mahmoud Charr and somebody else? That would be pretty damn awesome, I'd probably be the first WBC heavyweight champion to have two fights in one night and that is a guaranteed fact. What do you think, what we saying?"

Fury would be following in the footsteps of former heavyweight champion George Foreman and more recently YouTube star KSI in taking on multiple opponents in a night. However, he would be taking much more serious challenges than either of those two names, given that he would be facing a formidable opponent at least in Charr.

However, the likelihood that the British Boxing Board of Control would sanction such an event is slim, given that the previous two examples were exhibition bouts that weren't properly sanctioned. Foreman's event took place in April 1975 in Toronto and was completely unsanctioned, while KSI's London event last month was sanctioned by the PBA under strange 'crossover boxing' rules.

Fury did not specify who he would fight in the second bout of the night, but promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated that an offer went out recently to Derek Chisora after their initial fight talks broke down. There's next to no chance Fury would fight Chisora and Charr in one night, despite being a massive favourite over each man.

Speaking about Fury's latest demand for Joshua to sign the fight today, Hearn told Behind The Gloves : "It's not going to get signed today and I don't want to call Fury's bluff and say 'walk away then,' because he said he was doing that on Monday.

"If you want to walk away, just walk away from the fight. You know what? It becomes tedious to people and I'm here for the Conor Benn media day and I know I'm going to get questions about it but people get bored. If you look at Tyson Fury's post and the comments, half of it is 'AJ you dosser, sign the contract' and the other half is 'this is f***ing boring'.

"Just work away to get it done and trust your team to get it done and your lawyers. Hopefully they do. This whole 'I've pulled out of the fight, I'm back in the fight, you've got a day,' it really doesn't help. He's not stupid and part of me wonders why he's doing this, especially when they're offering Derek Chisora a fight."
