Typhoon Yagi is currently on a path towards northern Vietnam, where it is anticipated to make another landfall in the upcoming hours. The typhoon has recently regained strength and is now classified as the equivalent of a Category 4 Atlantic hurricane. This powerful storm is considered one of the most potent of the year and is projected to cause significant wind damage and widespread rainfall across northern Vietnam and neighboring Laos through Sunday.
After initially making landfall on China's Hainan Island on Friday, Typhoon Yagi experienced a slight weakening. However, it still maintained formidable strength, with maximum sustained wind speeds reaching 230 kilometers per hour, equivalent to about 140 miles per hour. This makes Yagi the most powerful typhoon to hit the popular holiday island in the past decade.
