It has been confirmed that two of the individuals that died in the city centre were University of Nottingham students. Three people were killed on Tuesday, June 13, during an incident in Nottingham.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were found dead in and around Nottingham city centre, including two people on Ilkeston Road and a man on Magdala Road. A van also attempted to run over three people on Milton Street, and these individuals are being treated in hospital.
The university said in a statement: It is with great sadness that we confirm the sudden and unexpected death of two of our students following a major incident in #Nottingham city centre overnight. We are shocked and devastated by the news and our thoughts are with those affected, their families and friends.
"We know this is likely to cause distress for staff and students in our community. Support is available through our support and wellbeing services for any of our community who may need it."
The Student Union at the university has also cancelled its Grad Ball which had been planned for this evening, as students stand in solidarity over what happened.
