Survivor 51 Castaway Takes Home a Gruesome 'One-of-a-Kind' Souvenir That Probst Calls 'Another Survivor First'

After 51 seasons in 26 years, one would think the audience had seen everything possible on 'Survivor.' But the show still surprises viewers with a chaotic second episode of the latest season.

On Wednesday's episode, one of the show's most graphic scenes ever showed contestant Brady Booker accidentally severing part of his thumb while chopping wood. Booker, a 27-year-old professional wrestler, told his tribe: 'I'm missing a quarter of my thumb,' while trying to contain the bleeding.

Castaway Insists on Staying

CBS actually showed the severed piece of the thumb on the machete that caused the accident. Fellow castaway Patt Cannaday was eventually seen holding a seashell containing the severed piece. 'I'm just trying to calm Brady down and also holding a portion of his thumb in a little shell. It was an experience unlike any other,' Cannaday said in her confessional.

'Did I just knock myself out of the game?' a tearful Booker asked a producer while they waited for the doctor. When the doctor finally arrived, Booker told him: 'I just don't want to be an idiot who lost the biggest opportunity of his life.'

Booker kept asking if he would be medevaced. He wanted to stay in the game and get the chance to win $1 million (£756,805). The wrestler still found humour despite the gory accident.

The doctor dressed and wrapped Booker's thumb and told the castaway he would be given antibiotics. After it was confirmed that he could stay in the game, Booker said: 'I would kiss you.'

One-of-a-kind Souvenir

Booker then made a strange request: to show the severed piece of his thumb to host Jeff Probst, to which the doctor replied: 'That I can do.' The doctor wrapped the seashell containing the thumb piece in plastic and shoved it in his pocket.

A gleeful Booker then told the camera: 'When doc told me I can stay in this game, it was like new life. Sure, it's a little numb, but I can touch all the fingers, I can touch far end, I can clap, I can grab. Sure, brodie, pain exists, but I would rather feel pain than nothing at all.'

Probst revealed that Booker also asked to take the piece of thumb home as a souvenir. 'Brady had a great sense of humor as he pleaded with our medical team to wrap the piece of thumb and put it in a cooler to save for him after the show so he could take it home,' the Emmy-winning host said.

'Talk about a one-of-a-kind Survivor souvenir. Most players are happy with a treemail,' Probst added. Booker revealed on X that he had encased the piece of thumb and turned it into a necklace.

The 'Survivor' account replied in shock, and Brady said: 'Too good of a moment not to have a keepsake.' Booker wasn't the only one injured during the episode. Kristin Flickinger, who was on the opposing tribe, injured her foot while competing in a blindfolded challenge. She also stayed in the game.

Producer Steps In

Injuries aside, the episode also ended in a mess when contestant Rob Antonson tried voting for himself during Tribal Council. A producer then told him he couldn't vote for himself.

It was another unusual moment in the episode when production personnel became directly involved in the game.
