Two Scottish cities have been named in a top list looking at the best cities across the UK to explore over 24 hours.
The study by holiday accommodation provider Stay in Devon (SID), looked at cities on the smaller scale which had a lot to pack in over a fun day trip.
Ranking them by the number of attractions, restaurants, and historic sites they house, SID has found the best cities in the UK that can be explored easily in a day, freeing up time to explore further afield to National Parks and beautiful beaches.
Speaking about the research, they said: "It turns out you don’t need to head to the big cities for fun adventures because loads of the lesser-known and smaller cities have just as much on offer."
And it turns out that both the City of Discovery, Dundee, and the Highland capital, Inverness make the list.
Dundee in particular ranked highly for being one of the "sunniest cities in the UK", with The V&A Dundee, the Dundee Science Centre and its over 300 restaurants all highlighted.
The SID team said: "You can do everything from historical city tours and museum visits to park visits and whisky tasting - the options are endless in Dundee. For quieter times, the county of Angus has even more to offer.
"Being set by the sea, you have easy access to many nearby beaches, Angus is home to seven award-winning beaches alone: Carnoustie (11 miles), Lunan Bay (25 miles), and Monifieth Beach (7 miles) to name a few.
"Head into the countryside and explore fascinating places like Glamis Castle or Barry Mill and J M Barrie’s Birthplace which are amongst the five National Trust sites in the area. Sitting south east of the Cairngorms National Park, you even have forests, lochs, and mountains to explore too."
While Inverness was singled out for its excellent array of attractions, restaurants and excellent nightlife.
