Law enforcement officials carry out an operation in Ibarra

An investigation is currently underway in Kentucky following a shooting incident involving two police officers during a routine traffic stop. The incident occurred in Louisville's Smoketown neighborhood at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

According to Louisville Metro police Deputy Chief Col. Emily McKinley, officers from the Fourth Division had stopped a car that had been reported stolen in the 400 block of Roselane Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, a struggle ensued between one of the occupants and the officers over a firearm, resulting in shots being fired.

As a result of the altercation, both officers and one suspect sustained gunshot wounds. Reports indicate that one officer was shot in the hand, while the other was shot in the leg. Fortunately, none of the injuries were deemed life-threatening.

The injured officers were promptly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment, while the suspect was taken to Jewish Hospital and is currently in stable condition, as confirmed by McKinley.
