PUNE: Two men on a motorcycle on Monday night beat a 25-year-old employee of a private company and robbed him of his cash, cellphone and motorcycle collectively worth Rs58,000.
The robbery happened near Chakan, when the complainant was on his way to his hometown in Sangamner taluka in Ahmednagar district. An officer with the Chakan police told TOI that the complainant, Jairam Munde, works in a company at Chakan. On Monday night, he was on his way to his hometown on his motorcycle.
“Around 9pm, Munde had stopped along the road to answer nature’s call. Two unknown men beat him up with hands and legs. The duo then snatched his cellphone and Rs2,000 from his wallet,” the officer said.
Cellphone snatcher held
Within a few hours after two men snatched a smartphone worth Rs15,000 in Bhosari, the Bhosari MIDC police arrested the snatcher and also detained his minor accomplice. Sub-inspector Navnath Chapale of the Bhosari MIDC police said the duo had snatched the cellphone around 6.30am at Indrayani Corner in Bhosari MIDC.
