Two gardaí a week resigning from force with numbers quitting on the rise year on year

Over 100 gardai quit the force early last year while two members of the force were suspended, it has emerged.

Figures obtained by The Star show a total of 107 rank and file gardai and two sergeants resigned in 2022 while two rank and file gardai were dismissed.

In 2021 almost 100 officers handed in their notice which was an increase of more than a third on 2020 figures.
