Two arrested after 'serious assault' of man in Dublin city centre on Sunday morning

Two people have been arrested after a man was seriously assaulted in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the Upper Gardiner Street area in Dublin 1 between 2:45am and 3:30am.

The man was taken to the Mater Hospital with "serious but non-life threatening injuries".

A man in his 30's and a woman in her 20's have been arrested as part of this investigation and are being held at at Mountjoy Garda Station.

Gardai asked for anyone with information to come forward.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Gardiner Street area, between 2:45am and 3:30am, Sunday 13th February, and has information about this incident to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Mountjoy Garda Station 01 666 8600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
