Two ambulances added to ‘108’ fleet

Two more vehicles were added to the fleet of existing 108-ambulances in Telangana.

Health Minister T. Harish Rao, who flagged off the emergency vehicles at the Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare here on Wednesday, said that IndusInd Bank has supported the initiative and agreed to donate eight more emergency vehicles under corporate social responsibility.

Altogether, there are 426 ambulances in the State. Around 4.5 lakh people were attended from April 2021 to February this year. He said that the response time in villages is 15-20 minutes which they aim to further reduce.

Besides this, 50 bike ambulances were deployed to travel through roads where four-wheeler emergency vehicles cannot pass. The bikes are used in faraway tribal areas.

The Health Minister said that around 19,000 people were attended using the bike ambulances from April 2021 to February this year. Mr Harish Rao said 300 ‘Amma Vadi’ vehicles are used to take pregnant women to hospitals, and back to their home. About 38 lakh pregnant women were attended since 2018.
