Imagine watching Zach Wilson versus Aidan O’Connell in prime time.
Well, football fans didn’t have to imagine as NBC and the NFL allowed it to be reality in Week 10. Rather than flexing out of the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, the powers that be offered it up for Sunday Night Football.
After trading field goals, O’Connell threw a 7-yard touchdown to tight end Michael Mayer with 14:12 to go in the fourth quarter. At that rate, a 16-9 lead may as well have been insurmountable, and it effectively was.
