Following Sunday’s 21-18 loss to the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons have now been swept by their most-hated NFC South rival three times in the last five years.
The Falcons’ postseason chances haven’t completely evaporated, but at 5-9, the playoffs should be the last thing on this team’s mind. Quarterback Desmond Ridder got off to a rocky start in his NFL debut, although the rookie played better as the game wore on.
Ultimately, the Falcons made too many critical mistakes to pull off the comeback. Let’s see how fans reacted to Sunday’s loss on Twitter.

The road to becoming a good team has somehow gotten longer the more the season has gone on

yes, the Falcons have spent the No. 4 and No. 8 picks on a TE and WR.
Yes, they still need another WR.

With Ridder, having receiving weapons only makes the offense better.

Troy Anderson likes to play peek-a-boo. That's how you get blocked consistently, and never make plays in the backfield. Think about that for a second.

At this point, it’s just a matter of which way the Falcons lose games. #DirtyBirds

Well that was the most Falcon like play ever 🤦🏻♀️

7 losses by 6 points or less this season. So painful 😖 #DirtyBirds

Desmond Ridder should at least be playing in overtime if not outright winning the game. Drake London screw us! 😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬😡 https://t.co/Wh1nkaaXDM pic.twitter.com/U63obHfCWe

We wasted two drives early trying to prove a point instead of letting 25 eat and getting Ridder comfortable

Getting swept by the awful Saints .., the most Falcons thing ever
— John Michaels (@JohnMichaelsU) December 18, 2022
Falcons are going to be okay. Lotta growing pains this year. They’ve been fighters despite having one of the worst rosters in the NFL.
Let Terry cook this off-season.
— Rise Up Ridder (@RiseUpReader) December 18, 2022
The Drake fumbled robbed us of a chance to see if Ridder could pull that game out. That stinks.

We may not win another game. https://t.co/L0FN5isA1a

Abdullah Anderson has missed a couple of stops to prevent Kamara from getting into the open field. Does enough to disengage from the block but can't properly wrap up to make the key stop.
— Allen Strk (@allenstrk) December 18, 2022
Sigh. Drake 🤦🏾♂️ gotta work on his ball security. Now the falcons gotta get one more stop to have a chance.
