Deion Sanders will probably never want to play on Friday the 13th ever again.
His Colorado Buffaloes had a 29-0 lead over the Stanford Cardinal in a Friday night game that didn’t wrap up until early Saturday morning, because Stanford came roaring back in the third quarter, forcing overtime at 36-36, and winning in double overtime, 46-43.
This was all set up for Sanders’ team. Stanford came into this game with a 1-4 record, and they were 0-3 in the conference. The Buffaloes welcomed star receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter back from injury, and Hunter put on a show, with 13 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
But it was another receiver who defined the game, and that was Stanford’s Elic Ayomanor, who caught 13 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Ayomanor ran over and through Colorado’s defense, frequently winning on the crossing routes that have been a problem for Colorado’s defense all season long.
Even in the game, Colorado’s coach had a feeling this could go the wrong way for him and his team.
“I talked to them about the old cliche people say — it’s 0-0 but that’s not true. It’s not 0-0, it’s 29-nothing,” Sanders said. “I felt complacency going into the half because we stalled offensively, gave up some yardage as well. Just didn’t like how I felt going in at halftime. We come back out and here comes complacency. Here comes that team that I can’t stand, that you can’t stand it. You can’t understand how in the world that happens to us. But it did.”
It did, it was the biggest blown lead in school history, and here’s what Twitter had to say about it.

I’m not kidding. I just looked it up. This guy Elic Ayomanor never had more than 4 catches in a game.
He has 13 catches for 335 yards now.

"Would the Public Address Announcer please stop playing while Stanford is in formation and ready to snap the ball? Any more playing of music and sound effects will result in an unsportsmanlike conduct foul against Colorado." 🦓👮♂️🏈 pic.twitter.com/NHDQ126Jvy
