Lucan

When he was 11, Neil Berriman discovered his birth mother was Sandra Rivett – the nanny murdered in Lord Lucan’s home in 1974. Lucan vanished that night and was legally declared dead in 1999. But Berriman, now a builder, believes he has found him – and this riveting three-part documentary follows his journey as he attempts to solve the mystery. Hollie Richardson

The Repair Shop

8pm, BBC One
It’s all about musical mends this week. Often that means restoring an instrument to former glory, such as the vintage bass drum that Dalkeith Borough Band in Midlothian have recently recovered. Then, once the music restarts, the real mending of hearts can begin. That’s certainly how Billy the blind Royal Artillery veteran feels about his bugle. Ellen E Jones

Portrait Artist of the Year 2024

8pm, Sky Arts
Nine nervous artists have four hours to paint one of three celebrity sitters for a place in the semi-final. Boxer Ricky Hatton hopes the paintbrush can take off 10lb and get him back to fighting weight, while historian Lucy Worsley has an even more specific brief: “A very aristocratic and elegant lady painted by Gainsborough.” EEJ

Shetland

9pm, BBC One

It may be in its ninth series and missing original star Douglas Henshall, but Shetland is still a cosy crime drama at its best. Ashley Jensen and Alison O’Donnell return as detective duo Ruth Calder and Alison “Tosh” McIntosh in a tense opening scene with one of them held at gunpoint. And that’s just for starters: the pair then get stuck into a double missing-persons case. HR

New Zealand’s Best Homes With Phil Spencer

10pm, Channel 4
Phil Spencer is still dragging his jaw along the ground as he ogles the very best properties in New Zealand. Here he visits an island to check out a Mediterranean-feel beach property before heading to Queenstown to nosy around a huge house made of copper. HR
