Dr Hilary Jones regularly appears on daytime TV shows such as This Morning, and on Wednesday he joined Christine Lampard on Lorraine.
Christine is standing in for Lorraine Kelly while she enjoys a summer break. Dr Hilary was in the studio to discuss the latest health news, and he had a stark warning for asthma sufferers.
It comes amid a serious turn in the weather. Following the heatwave earlier this month, a combination of high pollen counts and the current wet weather is set to create a phenomenon known as "thunder fever" or "thunderstorm asthma".

Speaking on Lorraine, Dr Hilary said: "People with asthma risk an attack. The pollen granules rupture, spilling the protein, which is much smaller than the pollen itself, which gets in the lungs of asthmatics.
"We get a spate of people suffering asthma being admitted to hospital." The GP also advised asthmatics on what they should do to protect themselves.
Dr Hilary continued: "Stay indoors, close the windows, wear a mask if you go outside. And, of course, take your preventer inhalers with you".
Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said that "heavy thundery showers could develop in warm muggy air". He added "there could be some high totals (of rainfall), particularly if you see some heavy thunderstorms come in one after another".
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and the ITV Hub
