Rachel Allen said she was bowled over by the “kindness of strangers” after her eldest son Joshua was jailed for drug offences.
And the telly chef, 50, said being in the public eye while Joshua, 22, went through a difficult time has been challenging, but people have been very supportive.
She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “The amount of people who have written to me, I cannot tell you. The kindness from strangers... people say I’ve never met you, but I’m sending you this card, I’m sending you this email.
“I mean sending me miraculous medals. I’m not Catholic but I treasure every single one of them.”

A recent court hearing heard how Joshua now trains five days a week in Mixed Martial Arts and has set up his own stone carving business.
Asked if she ever stops worrying about her three kids, Rachel replied: “No. Lucca’s in LMP3, it’s racing, and racing very fast but he’s very into it, very focused.
"I worry about him constantly, I worry about them all constantly.”
Ballymaloe baker Rachel is back on our screens this week with a new series of The Restaurant with rugby ace Devin Toner first to put his culinary skills to the test.
The Restaurant airs on Virgin Media One on Tuesday at 9pm.
