Turkey, Syria earthquake: Miracle baby found under rubble leaves all moist-eyed

Just after the series of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which has claimed more than 4,000 lives, a miracle baby was found by the rescuers under the rubble.

The video of the baby being rescued from the collapsed structure has gone viral online. In the short video we can see a rescuer is carrying the new born baby and rushing out of the fallen structure for help.

The video was shared by Hoshang Hassan, Journalist, SME in Syrian and Kurdish affairs. "A baby was born while his mother was being rescued from the rubble as a result of the earthquake that occurred today," Hassan has tweeted.

"CANT GET THIS IMAGE/VIDEO OF A NEW BORN BABY FOUND IN THE RUBBLE IN TURKEY OUT OF MY HEAD! My heartaches by this tragic earthquake," writes one Twitter user.

The baby was rescued in Afrin, Syria as per the information available on social media.

On February 6, 2023 a powerful earthquake struck Turkey causing devastating damage in Turkey and Syria. As per official record, more than 4,300 lives have been lost in the swarm of tremors which occured throughout the day on Monday. The World Health Organisation (WHO) officials are estimating the death toll to soar up to 20,000, reports have said.

Monday's first earthquake struck at 4:17am (0117 GMT) at a depth of about 18 kilometres (11 miles) near the Turkish city of Gaziantep, which is home to around two million people, the US Geological Survey said.

More than 14,000 people have so far been reported injured in Turkey, the disaster management agency said, while Syria said at least 3,411 people were injured.
