Nicola Sturgeon has announced all of Scotland's covid restrictions introduced in response to the Omicron wave during the festive period will be brought to an end next Monday.

The First Minister said nightclub closures and the requirement for table service in hospitality will come to an end.

Attendance limits on indoor events will also be lifted.

Man's disgust as he finds 'soiled knickers' behind bed in Scots hotel

Mechanic David Craig booked a hotel in Inverness for a catch-up with old friends - and wound up making a filthy discovery behind the bed in his room.

David, 52, uncovered a pair of soiled women's underwear when he moved the bed in his room to retrieve his car keys.

The floor beneath the bed in the Holiday Inn Express Inverness was also littered with decomposing bits of food and a solid layer of dust indicating it hadn't been cleaned for some time.

The three Scots villages named among the 'poshest' in the UK

Three Scottish villages have been ranked as some of the ‘poshest’ in the UK.

In The Telegraph’s list of Britain’s 54 poshest villages, only a trio of Scottish locations made it into the guide which picks out the poshest villages based on a combination of highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and "chocolate-box appeal".

According to the paper, 60 percent of Savills estate agents reported seeing a rise in demand for rental homes in the most desirable countryside locations during the pandemic.

'The devil' Scots pub bouncer caged after horror attacks on ex partners

Kevin Raymond was jailed or six years for life threatening attacks on women (MSN_PicDesk)

A pub bouncer dubbed "the devil" has been given an extended six year prison sentence after being found guilty of life threatening attacks on his former lovers.

Kevin Raymond, 28, subjected the women to years of violent abuse and he was placed on the sex offenders register for ten years for carrying out a sex attack on one of his victims.

Raymond was said to have shown no insight about the impact his crimes had on his victims and he had tried to minimise what he had done to them.

Scotland is set for sub-zero temperatures tonight as forecasters are warning of a freezing cold 'Arctic plunge'.

The mercury dipped to -2 in Aberdeenshire on Tuesday morning after a clear night as stargazers looked to the skies to see the Wolf Moon, the first full moon of the year.

Parts of the UK also woke up to a cold start and a dense fog weather warning in place
