'Trust me' — Noel Gallagher makes bold title prediction amid Man City and Liverpool battle

Noel Gallagher hopes Manchester City 's dramatic defeat to Tottenham Hotspur will "wake the players up" as he predicts more twists in the Premier League title race before the end of the season.

The Citizens were beaten 3-2 by Spurs at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as transfer target Harry Kane proved his ability with two goals against Pep Guardiola's side, including a 95th-minute winner.

What turned out to be a disappointing day at the office for City started four minutes in when Dejan Kulusevski put the away side ahead, before Ilkay Gundogan equalised with a reactive finish.

Riyad Mahrez 's stoppage-time penalty cancelled out Kane's tidy finish on the hour-mark, but the Spurs striker had another goal ruled out by VAR after a marginal offside call.

And there was still time for Kane to impose misery on Guardiola when he jumped in-front of Kyle Walker to head home the winner.

The result leaves City just six points clear of second-placed Liverpool, but the Anfield club have a game in hand and the pair have an Etihad date scheduled for April 9.

And renowned City fan and former Oasis superstar Gallagher thinks the two sides will still be chasing the Premier League title as they enter the final day of the season.

"All you in the media thought it was over, but no-one at City was saying it was over," he told talkSPORT.

"The title race is back on thank God, it keeps it interesting. It might wake the players up.

"I think he [Harry Kane] proved why we wanted him. You have to give it to Tottenham, they played it great and we were not at our best at all.

"There were too many crosses going into the box every two minutes. It wasn't working in the first minute and it still wasn't working in the 92nd-minute.

"But this is our blip now. Liverpool and us are going to drop points. It's going to go to the last day, trust me."

City's next Premier League game is a trip to Goodison Park to play Everton on February 25 (5.30pm).
