- Donald Trump has faced online mockery after sharing a graphic showing a proposed next-generation uniform design for the US Space Force.
- The graphic explicitly states that the charcoal-coloured outfit was inspired by the 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers, which depicts a futuristic Earth ruled by a fascist regime.
- Social media users and commentators swiftly likened the uniform to those worn by sci-fi villains such as the Galactic Empire in Star Wars, with some drawing comparisons to Nazi attire.
- Both political commentators and conservative critics questioned the choice of inspiration, with writer Jonah Goldberg highlighting the satirical nature of the original film.
- It remains unclear whether there is any official plan to adopt the new Space Force uniform or whether the design was shared solely as a social media graphic.
