Do you ever randomly open social media to check the president’s page only to find yourself suddenly trapped in some kind of stream-of-consciousness fever dream where America’s commander-in-chief is essentially live-tweeting his therapy sessions to the entire planet? No? Anyone?
Well, for those blissfully unaware of how Donald Trump spends his weekends, the POTUS took to his Truth Social feed this Sunday and wrote a 490-word tirade about Bill Maher. Yes, the text was so long that somewhere in the middle, I actually stopped reading and pasted it into a word processor to see what I was dealing with. And to put that into perspective for you, 500 words is actually longer than most stories we cover here.
While every head of state is dealing with international crises, economic policy, national security briefings, and anything in between in our wild, unpredictable, and more often than not chaotic world, it’s reassuring to know that Trump is apparently spending valuable executive hours hate-watching late night show hosts and furiously typing elaborate clapbacks like a teenager nursing a grudge.
In fact, if you needed proof that this country is running on autopilot, here’s 490 words of it:
The epic rant came after Maher once again mocked Trump’s bizarre policies on his show. The president, in turn, discussed Maher’s dinner visit to the White House and how the first thing he did was ask for a “Vodka Tonic.” He then went on to list some of his supposed achievements (because of course he did) and then said it was “a total waste of time for me to have this jerk at the White House.”
Trump is particularly furious over Maher making fun of his Ice Hockey comment. At that point of reading the post, I genuinely began to wonder if this was really the president’s official page or just a parody account like those we see on X. The real kicker was this:
“I’d much rather spend my time MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN than wasting it on him,” Trump wrote, blissfully unaware of the irony.
On average, it’s safe to say that Trump’s war against the press has taken a backseat in his second term, but it turns out the president is prone to lashing out every now and again. Even Trump who is certifiably obsessed with himself should know this isn’t the sort of behavior befitting a United States president, but something tells us he still doesn’t quite understand what the job actually entails.
