Trump prepares to 'expand US travel ban to more than 30 countries' amid US immigration crackdown

Donald Trump is reported to be planning to expand a travel ban on coming to the US to people from over 30 countries.

This comes after the news that the Trump administration paused all immigration applications from 19 countries and blocked citizenship ceremonies all over the US in the name of national security.

Over the summer, the president blocked visitors from 19 countries from coming to the US – the vast majority of them representing African or Muslim-majority countries, including Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and Sudan.

The ban, which came into effect on June 9, now looks set to be expanded to 30 countries, making it one of the most sweeping travel bans in history.

It comes amid a wave of anti-immigration policies introduced by Trump, including a ban on people travelling across the southern border to claim asylum as surprise ICE raids increase in communities across the nation.

This has been met with widespread condemnation from high-profile figures, including Kim Kardashian and Sabrina Carpenter.

There is no official statement from the president yet, but Secretary of State Kristi Noem hinted towards the new “full travel ban” on social media, suggesting she supported expanding the number of countries on the restricted list in a meeting with the president.

Noem said she backed restricting “every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies” on the list.

“Our forefathers built this nation on blood, sweat, and the unyielding love of freedom — not for foreign invaders to slaughter our heroes, suck dry our hard-earned tax dollars, or snatch the benefits owed to AMERICANS”

Noem added: “WE DON’T WANT THEM. NOT ONE.”

The president was previously very vocal in his criticism of former president Joe Biden for letting migrants enter America, specifically from countries where Islam was the majority religion.
