- President Donald Trump repeatedly praised Ohio Senator Jon Husted's physical build during recent midterm campaign events. While campaigning for another candidate in North Carolina on Tuesday, Trump once again evaluated Husted's physique and called him a monster made of muscle.
- “So he’s over here. I’m over here, and I’m studying his body . I’ve never studied the body of a man before. It’s not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course,” Trump said with a chuckle. “I always precede it by saying, ‘Nothing wrong,’ but it’s never been my thing, to be honest with you.” Trump continued: “But I looked at his ass, and then I looked at his legs. I said, ‘His ass, s***, it’s like, it’s like a pile of muscle. Then I looked at his legs, and I said, ‘Man, his feet are big.’ Then I looked at his shoulders, and I tapped him on the shoulder, and it actually hurt my hand.”
- The president then added: “He’s like a piece of steel. I said, ‘This guy’s a monster!’”
- Husted, who joined the Senate in January 2025 to replace Vice President JD Vance, is currently campaigning in a close race against Democrat Sherrod Brown. Trump is aggressively campaigning in key states for endorsed Republicans despite holding record-low approval ratings leading up to the midterms.
- Recent polling shows Democrats gaining ground in traditionally conservative states alongside widespread public skepticism about whether Trump will accept midterm election results.
