Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington on Wednesday for a three-day state visit with US President Donald Trump, as the two countries agreed to extend their trade truce until January 10.

Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the extension in a Fox News interview as Trump personally welcomed Xi at Joint Base Andrews. The Associated Press reported that the truce, under which Washington and Beijing have agreed to scale back tariffs and avoid new trade restrictions, will give both sides more time for negotiations.
