Trump Campaign Dunks on Iowa Pollster That Showed Him Trailing Harris After Winning The State

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win Iowa by a large margin, in contrast with the projection made over the weekend by one of the most trusted pollsters in the state, which claimed Vice President Kamala Harris had leapfrogged him at the last minute.

Trump was expected to win the state's six electoral votes with 82% of the ballots counted, which showed him with 56.6% of support compared to Harris' 41.9%, according to NBC News.

J. Ann Selzer, a respected pollster known for her accuracy, showed the former President trailing behind Harris by 3 points during the weekend. However, other polls saw her survey as being an outlier.

The win, however, doesn't come as a surprise, as the GOP candidate has handily won the Hawkeye State in 2016 and 2020, after former President Obama carried Iowa in both 2008 and 2012.

After the win in the state was announced, the Trump campaign quickly dunked on the pollster for her results.

"Congratulations to Donald J. Trump on tonight's victory," Trump Campaign Senior Deputy political Director Alex Latcham said. "After four years under Kamala Harris, Hawkeye state voters are eager for President Trump to fix what Kamala Harris broke. Starting on Day 1, President Trump and Vice President JD Vance will help to ease costs, secure the border, and protect Social Security for retirees like Ann Selzer."
