Trump Announced a Diesel Deal With Russia. Four GOP Senators Sent a Letter Decrying It.

Thom Tillis was among the Republican senators who criticized Trump's deal with Russia to release diesel to the markets.

Four Republican senators joined three Democratic counterparts to openly criticize President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions against Russian diesel to alleviate fuel markets.

"Congress explicitly banned Russian energy imports in 2022 to prevent American dollars from financing Putin's brutal war against Ukraine. Congress was clear: the U.S. should not import oil from Russia until it ends its aggression against Ukraine and ceases threats against our NATO Allies," said Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, John Curtis and Thom Tillis, who joined Democrats Jeanne Shaheen, Richard Blumenthal and Ron Wyden in signing the document.
