Trump and tech leaders sign a voluntary White House accord for reviews of AI

President Donald Trump pledged not to restrict artificial intelligence development, declaring he will never stifle a technology he compared to a new industrial revolution. The Trump administration unveiled America.gov, a new government AI chatbot designed to streamline federal services such as online passport applications.
Top tech executives, including Elon Musk , Mark Zuckerberg , and Jensen Huang, met with Trump at the White House to discuss industry self-regulation and expanding local data centers.
Trump said that he and a large group of leaders of artificial intelligence companies had signed a voluntary accord that will include internal and external reviews of the technology during a meeting at the White House.
“I think I’m seeing tremendous self-policing. And they understand that they have to self-police,” Trump told reporters outside the West Wing . Details of the accord were not immediately available.
Trump framed AI development as a high-stakes competition between the United States and China, emphasizing American leadership and rejecting heavy international oversight. The president's pro-growth stance contrasts with calls from some AI leaders, such as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, for increased safety measures and slower rollouts.
