True Geordie apologises to ex-kickboxer Andrew Tate for "stupid" slur

YouTube star True Geordie has issued an apology after launching into a "stupid" slur about his rival Andrew Tate's religion.

Controversial ex-kickboxer Tate has risen to fame for his controversial views, which has seen him banned on most mainstream social media platforms for his contentious opinions on women. Podcast host True Geordie - real name Brian Davis - has been a frequent critic of Tate's views which saw the former kickboxing champion suggest he would be open to fighting the Newcastle native.

In response to the fight call-out, Davis hit out at his new rival with an offensive slur, in which he suggested Tate should "blow himself up" after recently announcing his commitment to Islam. This faced huge backlash from fans and sponsors, with Gym Shark terminating their partnership with the star over his comments.

Davis has now issued an apology while bursting into tears, suggesting that he deeply regrets his slur. He said during a message on his YouTube channel : “I made a joke in questioning that ‘newfound faith’ of his, that conveniently comes at a time when he needs as many supporters as he can get. It was a stupid joke.

“When I say that out loud, when I’m aware of it, f***ing horrendous. It was one of those off-the-cuff remarks I made with a total lack of thought, and I used an unrealistic stereotype to take aim at someone who seriously dislikes me. Obviously I don’t believe that’s what Muslims actually do. It was a very stupid thing to say. It was an idiotic joke – one I’m sorry for.”

Tate has since issued an angry response suggesting that Davis' latest comments reinforced his views on his potential fighting rival. “There are very few people I personally dislike, one of them is True Geordie,” he said. “He’s very insulting, fat, vulgar, he’s a d***head, and an unlikeable person. He’s not very smart, he’s stupid. Now after me converting to Islam, he made a piece on one of his podcasts saying I’m not true in my conversion, and then insulted all Muslims.

"Making f***ing racist comments about an entire religion as if that’s somehow funny. Let me tell you something my friend, and True Geordie if you are watching this, this is a message directly to you. There are certain times in life when you need to know when to shut the f*** up.

“But to insult my religion, and the religion of billions of people across the f**king planet, making ignorant jokes about blowing ourselves up, thinking it’s gonna go without consequence, you’re gonna learn very quickly my friend that was a mistake.” Davis had already been in the headlines this month after being criticised by Tyson Fury in an angry outburst after grilling him over his upcoming fight with Derek Chisora in a terminated interview.
