Tropical Cyclone Narelle – a severe storm that has pummelled communities across thousands of kilometres in Australia’s north – intensified on Thursday night with several remote towns directly in its destructive path.
The cyclone, which was a category four system in the early hours of Friday morning, formed over the Coral Sea off Australia’s far north Queensland coast 10 days ago bringing torrential rain, flooding and destructive winds as it barrelled over the continent’s far north.
