Tributes to Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings who has died aged 61

  • Scott Hastings, one of Scotland's most celebrated rugby players, has died at the age of 61 after experiencing complications during cancer treatment.
  • He passed away peacefully on Sunday 17 May, a date which also marked the birthday of his late wife, Jenny.
  • Hastings earned 65 caps for Scotland as a centre and toured twice with the British & Irish Lions in 1989 and 1993.
  • He remains Scotland's most-capped male centre and played a pivotal role in the team's 1990 Five Nations Grand Slam victory over England.
  • Following his playing career, Hastings became a respected rugby commentator and pundit, with tributes pouring in from former teammates and coaches, including Sir Ian McGeechan and Gregor Townsend.
