Tributes to former Journal writer and murder victim's dad Fordyce Maxwell after death at 77

Scotsman Murder Robert Black

Tributes have been paid to a highly respected journalist who died after battling prostate cancer.

Fordyce Maxwell, 77, worked for titles including The Journal, The Scotsman and The Herald during his distinguished career.

The eldest of a family of nine, the seed for Fordyce’s journalism sprang from the family farm at Cramond Hill, near Cornhill-on-Tweed, Northumberland, where his father Thomas Fordyce Maxwell combined farming life with regular columns for the Alnwick Gazette.
