Douglas Shepp McCain, the adopted son of Senator John McCain , passed away at the age of 66.
A former Navy pilot, he spent six years flying A-6 Intruders before embarking on a long career with American Airlines.
His stepsister, political commentator Meghan McCain, announced his death , describing him as a “truly wonderful, joyful man” who supported her throughout her life.
His online obituary highlighted his generous heart, loyal friendships, and unwavering love for his family, noting he was a loving father and grandfather.
Adopted by John McCain in 1966, he maintained relationships with his stepfamily and was remembered as a “patriot” by The McCain Institute.
