Tributes pour in for boy, 12, 'that would light up a room' following tragic death days after Confirmation

Tributes have poured in for a 12-year-old boy who had a "beautiful smile that would light up a room" following his tragic death in Dublin.

Patrick McDonagh sadly passed away at home just days after making his Confirmation, leaving his family devastated.

He will be reposing in Massey Bros Funeral Home, Main Street, Finglas on Saturday, from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, before removal on Monday morning to St Canice's Church Finglas Village, arriving at 11.20am for Requiem Mass at 11.30am followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.

A funeral notice on Rip.ie reads: "McDonagh, Patrick Christopher Michael, Finglas West, 14th June 2022, tragically at home.

"Patrick aged just 12yrs, will be very sadly missed by his heart broken family, Mammy Michelle, daddy Patrick, sisters Rose-Leona, and Rebecca, brothers Dylan, Shóne and Jordan, grandad Bernard, grandmummy Kathleen, aunties, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours, friends and his best friend Cameron.

"Patrick made his Confirmation last Wednesday and took the name Michael."

The devastated community and all those who knew Patrick have shared their condolences with his family.

One person wrote: "I am so heartbroken for you all, Patrick always had a smile on his face and always stopped to say hello. He will be sadly missed by all his neighbors in Dunsoghly. Rest in peace Patrick fly high with the angels".

Another said: "Sincere sympathies on the passing of your beautiful boy Patrick. All his little pals in Dunsoghly estate are devastated and will miss him. Sleep peacefully in the arms of the angels Patrick."

"Heartbreaking to see patrick from birth to Confirmation i have seen the love his mammy and daddy has given him all through the years he was loved beyond belief may the memories of this live carry his family through their grief . Will pray for you all", said a third.

A fourth recalled the impact the young boy had on his peers.

They said: "To Michelle and paddy so sorry to hear of the passing of young patrick such a lovely lad with great manners and a beautiful smile that would light up a room it's hard to believe he is gone he was only at my house on Saturday and was talking about starting second school then I got the sad news this morning may he fly high with that big smile and look over his family at this very sad, rip patrick may u get the best bed in heaven sleep tight".

Another wrote: "Sincere condolences to all the family and friends A beautiful young angel patrick gone to soon my taughts on with his family at this sad time fly high".
