TRIBUTES have come flooding in for a woman who helped build one of Glasgow's biggest restaurant chains after her death last week.
Annunziata Arcari, better known as Nettie, co-founded the chip shops which later evolve into the La Vita chain of restaurants.
Now, the group boasts a staggering six locations in the city, having remained in the family with Nettie's grandson, Mario, at the helm as director.
In a Facebook post, La Vita wrote: "As many of you will know, La Vita is a multigenerational family business, with its roots in the chip shops originally operated by Mario Snr and Annunziata (Nettie) Arcari, before the family later branched into restaurants.
"Sadly, Annunziata (Nettie) Arcari, Marco’s mother and Mario’s grandmother, passed away last week.
"We know that many of our guests were very fond of Nettie and have asked about her and her wellbeing over the years.
"The celebration of her life will take place at St Bride’s Church in Bothwell on Wednesday 26th August at 11am.
"The family would warmly welcome anyone who knew Nettie and would like to attend to join them in celebrating her life."
Despite the titanic success of La Vita as its grown from fish and chips to decadent dining, memories of Nettie reach far past that to even the most humble of beginnings.
One commenter said: "Sorry to hear that sad news. Nettie was a great character in the Croftfoot roundabout shop when I was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s.
"A great success story of a family who worked hard every hour of the day. Very fond memories of Nettie. My thoughts are with the family."
