Trent Brown: Latest updates on Seahawks’ pursuit of free agent OT

The Seattle Seahawks have still yet to make a big splash in free agency this year, unless you count OLB Uchenna Nwosu’s slick two-year deal. They are pursuing at least one very large free agent target, though. ESPN reported a few days ago that New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown would be visiting with Seattle.

While no deal has been struck as of yet, it sounds like Brown has yet to leave town and the Seahawks are making a real push to sign him. Here’s the latest on the pursuit, with updates from a couple of Patriots beat writers.

Mike Giardi reports that New England told Brown to go out and see what he could get on the open market and then come back to them before making a final decision.

Meanwhile, Mark Daniels is reporting that Brown was still in Seattle at least as of Friday night and the team hadn’t booked him a flight home yet.

Brown is 28 years old and should be considered the top offensive lineman still on the market as far as the Seahawks are concerned.

La’el Collins (28) is also worth a look, but he’s exclusively a right tackle and may cost more. Terron Armstead (30) is also an option at left tackle, but he’s likely to be even more expensive. Meanwhile, Brown can play either spot.
