I wonder what Gareth Southgate was thinking after being present at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening to watch another vintage Trent Alexander-Arnold display?

It was a simply spectacular goal from Trent to put the Leicester game out of reach, which continued his impressive run of performances since taking up a new role in the team. I said in one of my previous columns he would come out the other side of his tough period in the team, and so it has proved.

Offensively, he is the best right-back in the world. Sometimes he doesn’t get the support he needs because of the way he plays, so can get caught out. Alexander-Arnold has looked so much more assured since Klopp changed things up last month and has been given a new lease of life. He looked like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders before, but now seems a different person and player.

28-goal striker was 'locked in a hotel for three days' by sporting director to block Liverpool transfer

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli 'locked' Victor Osimhen inside a hotel to persuade him to join the Serie A side and turn down a move to Liverpool in 2020.

Giuntoli’s former collaborator Giandomenico Costi revealed the tactic used by Napoli in order to secure the services of Osimhen - who has gone on to become one of the most feared forwards in Europe.

The Napoli director oversaw the signings of Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before they both helped to secure a first Serie A title in 33 years.
