Trent Alexander-Arnold has sent a message to a now former Liverpool team-mate following his exit from the club.
Earlier this summer it was confirmed that several players would be leaving the Reds when their contracts expired at the end of last month. Among them was Ben Woodburn, who remains the club's youngest ever goalscorer.
Woodburn has now signed a one-year deal with Preston North End after being handed a trial by the Championship club. His last senior appearance for Liverpool came back in 2018.
Woodburn and Alexander-Arnold progressed through the youth ranks at the Reds. They both broke into the senior team in the 2016/17 campaign, with Woodburn writing his name into the Anfield record books with his goal against Leeds United in an EFL Cup tie in November 2016. But it is Alexander-Arnold who has maintained his place in the team.
Earlier this week, Woodburn posted a message on Instagram saying his goodbyes to Liverpool. In the message, the Wales international thanked everyone at the club for their help through the early years of his career.
Woodburn wrote: “16 years at this amazing club! Thankyou for everything.” Alexander-Arnold quickly responded to the message, by simply writing: “My brother what a journey,” followed by a heart emoji.
Alexander-Arnold was not the only Reds player to send Woodburn a message on the post. Club captain Jordan Henderson also joined in by wishing the 22-year-old good luck for the future. “All the best mate,” wrote Henderson.
Other players such as Owen Beck, Conor Bradley, Harvey Davies, Nat Phillips and Billy Koumetio also offered messages of good luck to Woodburn.
