Travis singer Fran Healy has revealed that he punched carjacker in the face after he tried to pull him from the window of his car.
The Why Does It Always Rain on me singer took to Twitter to speak about the ordeal and even joked that his fist came off worse than the attempted thief's face following the incident.
Sharing to his 47,000 followers, he recalled the moment: "Almost got carjacked inside the parking facility of my studio. Man! That was close.
"Huge guy tried to pull me out my car window. Managed to get away. Downtown LA is mental." He then added: "As the adrenaline dissipates, my right hand is hurting like I punched a wall. I hooked the guy really hard in the face a few times while he was all in my window. He didn’t flinch. Didn’t even register it. I was like 'Aww balls'."
Shocked fans rushed to make sure that he was ok, with one writing: "Hope you're ok!" Another added: "Fran, how scary. Hope you're ok." A third wrote: "Oh Fran I'm sorry you went through that. I'm glad you're safe, it must have been frightening..."
Last year, Fran was attacked by a sausage dog near his home in the Hollywood Hills. He went to help the dog after it had been involved in a three-car collision.
After jumping from his car to rescue the pup which "would have been toast", he was bitten on the hand. He had to have surgery on his hand after the bizarre incident left him unable to play his beloved guitar.
Fran joined Travis in 1991 and went on to enjoy huge success with the band with tracks such as Driftwood, Sing and Why Does it Always Rain on Me? The hitmakers were awarded best British group at the Brit Awards and were named NME artist of the year in 2000.
In a recent interview with his band mate Dougie Payne, the pair said they were "happy to be the invisible band". The duo explained that their music was more important to them than their image and being recognisable.
Speaking of their third album 'The Invisible Band', which propelled them into the mainstream, they said: “That’s why we called the album that, the songs were always more important than the band.
"The fact that we are here talking to you is testament to that, because the songs are still here and the songs will be here when we’re dead and gone,” they told STV entertainment show.
Fran joked: "Maybe Travis will be bigger than The Beatles in 500 years?”
